"TIME BANDIT" 2.141 sets MUDDI GRAS track record for the WIN

The air was cool, but the action was hot, as the first race of the 2010 PROBADD ALL-STAR Series Nationals got underway, at 7:00pm, on Feb 6th, at the MUDDI GRAS Motorsports Park in Kenansville, Florida. Mark (the SHARK) Lee, in “TIME BANDIT”, set the track record in addition to winning the SCS Gearbox ALL-STAR Nationals with a 2.141 E.T. The SHARK also took second with “PURE ENERGY”, with an E.T. of 2.145, clocked at the speed of 107 mph, courtesy of the Sheriff’s department.

Mike (FASTLANE) Lane, the 2010 KING of BADD, started off the show in “WICKED SENSATION” with an E.T. of 2.221, setting the bar for the evening, and placing him third overall. Mike hurt the rear gear on that pass and was not able to return. Mike placed his “ATTITUDE” car in fourth, with an E.T. of 2.240. Shawn Barber also started off the show, racing with Mike on the first pass. Shawn clocked a 2.359 in his “BACK N BLACK”. Shawn’s second pass of 2.311 placed him fifth overall.

Kevin Stone in “the GRIND” and Andy Garrett were the second pair to the line. Andy’s car was in Missouri waiting on parts, so his friend Mike let him bring his car, “REAL ESTATE MOVER”, to the race. Kevin’s E.T. was a 2.594 on the first pass and he scratched on his second pass. Andy’s first pass was a 2.613 and he bettered his E.T. on the second pass with a 2.533, placing him eleventh overall.

Bob Dunham was in the third pair with the Shark. Bob’s first pass was a 2.763 E.T. in his “ROLLIN THUNDER”. Bob made a couple of adjustments and ran a 2.348 E.T. on his second pass, to place seventh overall.
Billy Fling, driving “REALITY CHECK”, went up with Mark O’Steen driving, “DAD’S DIRTY BIRD”, on the next pair. Mark bested Billy’s E.T. of 2.417 with a 2.404 - talk about a close race! The times placed Mark in ninth overall and Billy in tenth.

Rick Holmes, driving his “WILD CHERRY” Hemi powered rear engine car, ran an E.T. of 2.328 to Mike Lane’s 2.240, on the first pass. Rick got loose and lifted and he also broke a push rod on that pass, and was not able to return for the second round. Rick’s time placed him sixth overall.

Next up was Ennis Thomas, with his new “HEARTBEAT of AMERICA” Chevy powered rear engine car. He clocked an E.T. of 2.371 on a wild ride. He did some excellent driving, as the car shot hard left under full power about two-thirds of the way down the track and had to set the car down and turn hard right to keep from hitting the wall head on. He climbed up on the wall and came off the top at the end in a shower of sparks, almost saving it at the big end.

The car rolled several times and he was life flighted out to the hospital. Ennis suffered a broken wrist, fractured leg, and bruised ribs.
In the right lane, running with Ennis, was Jeff Goldizen, in “GROUND POUNDER”. Jeff did not get an official time, as the clocks malfunctioned in his lane. It was an unfortunate event for both Ennis and Jeff, as Jeff’s Hemi exploded on his next pass, destroying the block & complete bottom end.

Larry D’Antoni was in the last set of cars with his “POWER PRO 1” Hemi powered car paired with Mark Lee, in “Time Bandit”. Larry turned in a 2.613, blowing a burst panel two-thirds of the way down the track. Larry went to work getting ready for the second round and just made it under the wire, with a pass of a 2.557 E.T., popping another burst panel. That run placed him twelfth overall for the event.
