Mike was born in 1968 and grew up on his parents farm in Wapakoneta, OH. He now lives in Botkins, Oh. Mike and Melissa have been married for 18 years. They have three children: Caitlin, Paige and Dalton.
He has been around some type of motorsports since he was a young boy. Mike and his dad originally pulled tractors and later moved onto pulling pickup trucks. In 1977, Mike got his first taste of competition, participating in his first tractor pull, driving a John Deere. When he was a kid he would drive his dads pickup truck thru the mud on his parents farm and realized it was a lot of fun. As he got older, 15 or 16, he started jacking them up with lift kits and big tires. In 1987, there was a mud bog at the county fair. It was at that time that Mike realized you could get paid to play in the mud. He participated in mud boggs in 1988 in the stock truck class for fun. In 1989 and coming from a background of tractor pulling, he bought the neighbors supercharged small block Chevy and put it in his pickup truck and raced it in the open class.
In the fall of 1989, he heard of Power Pro and bought a 23 altered Power Pro chassis. In 1990, Mike ran his first NMRO event and realized we were about 2,000 horsepower shy and may need to regroup. We raced locally in 1991 thru 1993. Mike joined a local organization called Midwest Mud Racing Association, where they raced locally in Ohio and Indiana. In 1993, he won their points championship. In 1994, Mike built a big block blown motor and raced in the tri-state area. In 1995, he went to Indianapolis, IN and raced a national event. This time he did much better and finished tenth. From Indy on, Mike has raced all of the national events. In 2000, Mike went indoor racing for the U.S. Hot Rod Thunder Body Nationals. Mike raced this for three years, winning the points championship in 2002.In 2001, he decided to run two cars, adding Attitude. He also ran the B & M Motorsports series throughout Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. He has won seven points championships through the years. As of this date, Mike has raced in 25 states and over 100 different tracks.
