"Pure Energy" 2.123 Winner of MRA Opener 2008
Mark Lee
Mark Lee "Pure Energy"
From Raleigh, NC. Mark is one of the Pioneers of Mud Drag Racing, he started racing in 1979.  He raced with the North Carolina Mudd Sling Association in class “C” and “CC”.  Following that and for the years 1983-1985 he was the points champion for Class “A” and “AA” (tractor tires).  In 1986 Mark decided to hit the National Circuit racing with what we now know as the NMRO Jamboree Nationals.  1986 was the first world champion race in Phoenix city Alabama.  He placed around 25th out of aprox. 140 entries only to come back the following year and place 7th and then in 1988 had the fastest time of over 140 entries but was called out of bounds.  In 1989 at her USA World National Series Points Season Opener at Coweta Raceway Park Mark was the first Small Block to run under 3 seconds with a time of 2.88 and finish in 2nd place behind Glenn Seabolt with a 2.69.

Marks love for the motor sports spans far beyond the race track itself, constantly striving to improve his abilities and the performance of his cars In 1986 he made an alteration to an axle and sent it to Strange Engineering for fabrication.  Seeing the distinct advantage of such a design change, 1 year later Strange Engineering began to manufacture this design known as the Dana 60 front tractor pull axle.

Mark retired form Mud racing in 1990 to pursue other opportunities available to him at the time.  But time could not heal him of the itch/love for the sport of Mud Racing.  He started planning for his come back. Long forgotten are the televised appearances of him in TNN’s first ever broadcast of mud racing in 1989 in Coweta GA. and features in “And They Walked Away” Vol 1.

When Mark decided to make his debut back in 2007 he opted to have his long time friend Gary Baker to help him, along with the best equipment, knowledge and contacts known in blown alcohol today to accomplish his goal of taking this sport to the next level  He has run many passes Sub 2.2 seconds in 200ft.  In 2008 Mark won the first MRA season opener in Florence SC with a time of 2.123 and set the 200ft MRA National record. Mark also set the track ET and MPH record at Neeses SC. With an ET of 2.16 and an MPH of 111.11.

Mark has won 4 ALL-STAR National events in 2009 & 2010 Joining the 2.1 second club and setting the 160ft PRO-BADD national record 2 times also setting the new 200ft PRO-BADD National record & WORLD RECORD at 2.087 to be the first man in the 2.0'S and starting the elite 2.0 club!  Mark also captured the KING of BADD
2011 title.
