Chad Miller and Tom Marsh are good friends, from Vandalia, Ohio, who have been mudracing together since 1982. They started out with Chad’s custom built 2-wheel drive V-8 Jeep. Next, they built a T-bucket named “INTRUDER” for Tom and a 4x4 car called “PURE PUNISHMENT” for Chad. In order to find better places to compete, they began traveling. Once they began running the indoor circuits, their racing schedule became year-round. With no “off” season, competing in 30 to 35 races a year was normal for them.
In 1986, Chad and Tom built one of the first all round tube chrome moly chassis for mud racing. The original “INSTANT T” was a ’27 Roadster with a 509 cid Rodeck with Hilborn fuel injection. Chad’s new car showed great potential and became very competitive, winning lots of prize money. In 1988, Chad had a Top-10 points finish in the “COORS EXTRA GOLD SUPER SERIES OF MUDRACING” and in 1989, he finished second in points in the NMRO’s first points series. In the fall of 1989, Chad’s car and Tom’s new car sailed for the Island of Aruba out of Miami, Florida. A week later, Tom joined Chad in Aruba to race their cars in a baseball stadium, in front of sell-out crowds.
In 1990, after switching to a blower and a clutch, Chad finished seventh in the “CAMEL MUD & MONSTER SERIES” and that same year, he joined the NMRO’s 2 Second Club (2.999 or quicker in 200’). In May of 1991, while driving the new and improved “INSTANT T”, a chrome moly chassis built by Tom and Chad, Chad clocked a 2.576, to be the founder of the NMRO’s Elite 2.5 Club. Later that summer, Tom, in a brand new chassis of a similar design, joined the NMRO’s 2 Second Club with a blast of 2.74 seconds. For the next few years, Chad and Tom chased points and won races in the “CAMEL SERIES” and did very well in the NMRO’s “ALL STAR SERIES” and SPECIAL EVENTS’ “JAMBOREES”. After racing year-round for over a decade, Chad and Tom scaled back to just a few races a year.
In 2007, M&M (Marsh & Miller) Racing celebrated 25 years of “playin’ in the dirt”. They competed in races in many venues, including stadiums, coliseums, and civic centers. Their racing took them to more than 100 cities, 27 states, and 3 countries (USA, Canada, & Aruba). M&M Racing was featured on Diamond “P” videos and they appeared on televised mudracing events for NBC, ABC, TNN, SPEED, ESPN, and OUTDOOR channels.
M&M Racing plans to debut their latest and greatest race car for the 2010 racing season.
